Chapter 8 Rides the Boo

October 12th, Dallas Chapter 8 members Cindy & Claude Bullard, Jim & Judy Pharr, Gary & Mindy Lovell, Bo & Linda Culp, Mike Mulltop and probie Rick Gaddis had a great trip to Jefferson, TX for the 10th Annual Boo Run, along with friends Steve & Sandy Keller and Rick’s fiancé’ Shelley.

Judy Pharr entered her antique bike, a 1974 Harley Shovelhead , painted yellow and white and the classiest bike in the show. She was beat out by a old red Cushman Eagle. No accounting for taste.

We traveled some winding ribbon roads through lots of pines, oaks and lots of fall color with rides between Mt. Vernon, Purley, Winnsboro, Pittsburg, Marshall, “Auntie Skinner’s” in Jefferson and the Uncertain Tavern, Uncertain, Texas. Many autumn festivals were in full swing as we rode though the small towns and wide spots in the road along the way.

Some of the gang stayed at Gary and Mindy’s lake house in Pelican Bay on Lake Cypress Springs, about sixty miles from Jefferson. We built a nice washtub fire and roasted some marshmallows and told some stories. Coffee on the deck early in the morning, with a nice sunrise on the lake was a good way to get ready for a nice long ride along the beautiful woods, lakes and creeks of East Texas.

Several other W&F chapters had riders at the Boo Run and we enjoyed jawing with them. No one got a good hand in the poker run, but it was still a good ride.

“Boo Benefit, Ride for Burn Survivors“, benefits the Ark-La-Tex Children’s Burn Camp and the Percy R Johnson Bun foundation, and was started in honor of burn victim Charles “Boo” Chaler, who survived burns over 95% of his body. He was there to pass out awards and thank folks.
