Meeting Minutes

March 12, 2011

Meeting called to order by Richard Jolly with the following members present

Gary Lovell & Mindy Gary Freeman Jerry Rushing Bo Culp Jim Pharr James Bates

Mike Multop

Members visiting from sister clubs Los Bomberos and Firehouse Bikers.

  1. Union Hall has been secured as the final destination to parade to. We are now trying to secure a band for the event. Union hall reps are asking that music be cut off at 10PM and they are concerned about the alcohol and riders on bikes. This will be up to us to control. At the present time, it’s unknown if the whole building will be available to us or not but we will be required to provide porta-potty’s as well as hiring off duty officers for security. Stops will be the Fire Museum, Strokers, Primo’s, Chaser’s and Eddies Sports Bar with start at Willies as always.
  2. Bo Culp has been in touch with several different trailer companies and is working on securing one to raffle off for the Burn Run. Questions regarding tax, title and license were brought up and that will be worked out. Jolly asked if there was enough money for the trailer and the shotguns and Bebo says there is. Getting someone to donate the money for the trailer was discussed. Tickets will be $5 and are going to be pre-printed and numbered. Talk of taking the trailer to different places to show it off and sell tickets. Bo Culp is going to be the point man for anything to do with the trailer.
  3. Once again, Wind & Fire members from the Dallas and Irving chapters are ineligible to purchase tickets for the shotguns and/or trailer.
  4. Donations from the stops will be $1000 plus $200 for T-shirts for the kids.
  5. El Chico night (Rockwall) is scheduled for April 17th and the manager is going to try to get some raffle items. Need as much participation as possible on this.
  6. May 21st is being talked about for a fish fry to benefit the camp after the burn run. Further discussion needed as to the date and times.
  7. Shotgun raffle will be May 4th at Willies. There will also be a Texas Hold-em and a nine ball tournament. Pizza will be ordered and prize is $1 a slice.
  8. Guys ride is set and rooms reserved. There are approx eleven riders going.
  9. Tammy’s Bubba Run was brought up on March 27th at The Next Door Club, 926 S Cockrell Hill Rd.
  10. Rebel is stepping down as the Southern Rally coordinator and may fall on our chapter to take it over. Jolly and Lovell will be going to Austin to take a look at what is available as some members want to change up places to go, camp and being in the heat. We do not have to be tied to the Rot Rally as far as a date except for this year.

Hoyt Hubble Charlie Contreras Fil (assc)

  1. For those of you not aware, Richard Jolly was severely burned on his face, shoulders, arms and hands while at his hunting lease. He got out of the hospital this morning and will have some recuperating to do but the good news is that there is no permanent damage according to him.
  2. Bebo reports that as of right now we have the following on hand for the Burn Camp run:

    $6000.00 Donations

5000.00 From sale of shotgun tickets

    $11,200 Totals (Approx.)

  3. As it stands right now, we are $500.00 in the hole on T-shirt money with more shirts on the way. Members are strongly encouraged to sell some of these shirts to anyone you can. We need to turn a profit on these in order to order the shirts for the kids at the camp.
  4. Flyers have been printed and handed out for Wind & Fire night at El Chico’s in Rockwall located at 503 Interstate 30 just north of Horizon Road. Date is Tuesday May 25th from 4 to 10 PM. The first 100 people that say they are with Wind & Fire and El Chico’s will donate 10% of the proceeds from that night to the Burn Camp. We need to promote this as much as possible and have a good turnout for this event.
  5. Gary Freeman received a newsletter from the Family Place and there is no mention of Wind & Fire Chapter 8 in it regarding the Christmas Toy Run we had for them. Gary is going to go there and ask about it and try to get a letter of sponsorship and mention in the next newsletter that comes out.
  6. There will be a special meeting next Saturday to finalize all the plans for the Burn Camp run. Our regularly scheduled meeting is the day of the run. We need all patch holders to attend so that we can give out stop assignments and shore up any loose ends. Don’t forget that Wednesday May 5th is the Fish Fry and drawing for the shotguns at Willies. Dinner at 7PM and drawing at 8PM. We will also need patch holders to show up at 12 noon on Friday May 7th to get all the equipment out to the stops. This is our run guys so full participation is needed to ensure success.

Meeting Minutes

March 27, 2010

Meeting called to order by Richard Jolly with the following members present: Jerry Rushing Gary Lovell Jim Pharr Gary Freeman Mike Multop James Bates Mindy Lovell Hoyt Hubbell

Robert Russ Claude Bullard Charlie Contrerras

  1. I mentioned the Peacekeepers having a patch over celebration on April 10 at Bulwinkles in Plano. Anyone showing up in colors, the first beer is on them. I have a flyer I will be sending to Gary to post on the web site.
  2. Hoyt is getting with patch holders after the meeting to get their shotgun tickets. Hoyt also gave more information and again asked for donations for the funeral bell. The DFR cooking team took first place in ribs and 3rd overall in the Galveston cook off.
  3. BURN CAMP BUSINESS…The Fire Museum is once again going to be the first stop where participants will get their card and start the run. Going to try to have the kids there as well as some of the counselors. Darryl who is a customer of Willies approached Jolly about doing a breakfast in the morning and BQ and/or fish fry in the afternoon. Several improvements at Willie’s in that we are going to do some painting outside with Willies and our logos. A fence with two gates is going up out front for smokers and to try and help Jackie get some business in. This will allow tables and chairs outside for the smokers that come to Willies. Some of our stops are having money problems such as Chaser’s. Stroker’s is a go. Primo’s is working with us as far as the parking problems there.
  4. Harley from the Scorpion’s is putting an after run party. They want a sponsor to help them bring money in to support the Burn Camp. Jolly made it clear that we could not sponsor their club but we are more than welcome to accept their donation. Entry fee will be five dollars and it will be held at the Scorpion’s clubhouse at the old 39 fire station at Centerville and Jupiter.
  5. T-shirts are out and are the nicest looking shirts we have had so far. Patch holders need to come see them and work at trying to sell them. Jolly also showed the artwork for the new chapter shirts and it has our colors on a wood grain looking outline of the state of Texas. Ideas are being taken to how the shirts should look. Members have suggested having the logo artwork placed on the back of the shirt and something simple on the front such as Dallas Chapter 8. Having a patch on the arm is also discussed. Consensus is logo on back and left sleeve and Wind & Fire Chapter 8 on the left front on black T-shirts.
  6. Richard talked to one of the people that runs the poker tournaments here at Willies and they have given us permission to use their equipment to start a tournament of our own as part of the Wednesday at Willie’s It was suggested that we start this after the Bur Camp Run. Further discussion will be forthcoming on this so stay tuned.

    Page Two

  7. Mindy has been in touch with several Wal-Marts and there are three that are committed to contributing to the Burn Cap. Have also talked a manager at El Chico’s and they are willing to have a get together once a month where they have raffles and donate money but they have to have a lot of participation. It was suggested that we have this after the burn camp run. Gary and Mindy are going to get with the manager and see what’s available for May.
  8. James Bates is going to see about our chapter having a booth at the Heritage Jubilee on April 16th and 17th at Gill Park in Terrell.

Meeting Minutes

March 13, 2010

Meeting called to order by Richard Jolly with the following members present: Jerry Rushing, Gary Lovell, Gary Freeman, Jim Pharr,

James Bates, Mindy Lovell, Bo Culp, Claude Bullard,Mike Multop, Hoyt Hubbell, Reed Russell, Charlie Contrerras

Gary Lovell has made things happen at Parkland. We now have our pictures out and brochures with our story on it. Kudo’s to Gary for knocking on doors and making Parkland more aware of us.

Hoyt has one shotgun which is a Weatherby 12 gauge semi auto shotgun with screw in variable chokes. Second gun is going to be a Yildez 410 for kids or ladies. Academy is also providing gift certificates after April 1st.

Drawing for the shotguns is going to be May 5th at Willies and Jolly mentioned the possibility of having a spaghetti dinner that night and charging $5 a plate that night. Other ideas mentioned were pizza, brisket or even cold cuts.

Next weekend is the Galveston run. Several members are going so plan to go if you can. Lone Star chapter wants all members to meet at a fire station to be announced. Members will leave from there to go to the Galveston Fairgrounds. Registration and breakfast will be served.

Tammie’s is having the bubba Run on March 28th. Tammie’s is located one block south of Jefferson off Cockrell Hill. Breakfast will be served and run following.

April 17th is the Dallas Derby Devils first match and it’s at the Skate Land. Members will meet here at Willies and attend the event.

New flyers and handouts are out and need to be distributed. We are eight weeks away from the Burn Run and now is the time to start getting your donations started and secured.

T shirts are going to have our colors on them with a background of the state of Texas and look very nice. On the back of the shirts will be the Camp logo along with willies and the stops printed on them. Two hundred bandanas have also been ordered and red V neck ladies shirts are on order. The Fire Museum is in on the day of the run. Any rumors about the museum losing their lease is not true.

Eddies Sports Bar has committed to two hundred for the shirts and seven hundred to sponsor two kids. Chasers and Primo’s is on board for two hundred and a thousand each. Reno’s is committing to advertising our chapter in all their commercials and hand outs.

Rebel has made some plans with Reno’s for early registration. This could create problems the day of the run. As long as we have a list of who has registered, there shouldn’t be a problem. Jim Pharr is going to get with Rebel and try to find a solution and see how it can work and if it should work this year then next year we could open it up to the other stops.

The Burn Camp run is being advertised on the some local radio stations and also in the Dallas Observer.

Jolly stated that the president of the Scorpion’s is inviting our chapter to their clubhouse for an after run party.

Jolly wants everyone to start promoting Willies and the possibility of starting Wednesday night at Willies again. We need to keep our clubhouse open and the way to do that is to bring Jackie some business. If you want to stop and have a beer somewhere then start thinking about Willies and bring some friends. Jackie is an honorary member and we need to support her in any way we can.

Mindy Lovell is trying to get some local restaurants to donate a dinner pack. Her goal is to come up with four of them willing to donate it and then they will be auctioned off the day of the run.

Richard states that he is the process of designing another chapter T-shirt. More to follow on this.

Meeting Minutes

February 27, 2010

Meeting called to order by Richard Jolly with the following members present: Jerry Rushing, Gary Lovell Gary, Freeman, Bo Culp,

Claude Bullard, Jim Pharr, Mindy Lovell (Assoc.), Hoyt Hubbell and Mike Multop...    Rebel – Irving Chapter

Member Charlie Contreras had a death in the family. His brother passed away Feb 19th and funeral arrangements have already been done and due to the delay of it being put in IDS, flowers were not sent from the chapter.

Gary Lovell has made contact with Parkland regarding our continued support to the Burn Camp. Seems there has been a communications breakdown and we have been assured that there is no animosity between W & F chapter 8 and Parkland. Part of the problem lies in how donations are turned in. Checks are separated according to names and therefore, Wind & Fire is not getting credit for all the checks coming in. Gary is going to come up with a plan that covers us in an umbrella type deal. One suggestion is to have the donating person write in the memo field that it’s for Wind & Fire Burn Camp and this will allow Parkland to see who it’s coming from. Gary Lovell has gotten a letter from the director of Parkland Burn Foundation so that we can show it to potential donators. Please see Gary if you would like a copy.

Poker Run business was discussed and Jolly stated that all the stops are going to stay the same and start at Willies and end at Stroker’s. Also the buy card issue was brought up and Jolly states that riders can buy their extra card at any stop and verified by the member at the stop. More discussion about Primo’s and the parking situation there. Bo Culp is still suggesting that we use Primo’s at Ray Hubbard. The main problem is parking on Mckinney and the fact that it’s a one way street Discussed a way to bring Terry from Biker’s Just Gotta Have It in and it was suggested that we set him up at Willies and let him sell patches and sew them on in the parking lot. Final decision is five stops being Reno’s, The Fire Museum, Eddie’s Sports Bar, Primo’s on Mckinney and Chaser’s. A buy in card can be bought at any stop and will be signed and verified by a patch holder. The five dollar buy in money will go in the 50/50 to alleviate any complications. There will be no darts thrown at Willies unless there is a tie.

Now is the time to start hitting you contributors. Let’s start hitting them up early to allow them time to get the donations into their budgets and get them approved.

T-shirts were discussed and this year it was brought up that we go with a different designs and having the Texas outlined behind our colors.

Rebel already has a design with that and will let us have it. Colors and sizes were discussed.

Shotguns were discussed and Hoyt is going to work this again. More to come on this. The guns will go in Mike Multop’s name this year and Hoyt will make the contact to see what’s available for this year. Once again the raffle for the guns will be open only to active and retired firefighters. Patch holders are not eleible to buy tickets.

Motion from last meeting regarding the donations to Danny Burris as well as the DFR cooking team. Vote carried and Jim Pharr will write the check to both donations.

Meeting Minutes

February 13,2010

Meeting called to order by Jerry Rushing. The following members were present:

Jerry Rushing Gary Lovell Bo Culp James Bates

Mike Multop Claude Bullard Hoyt Hubble Mindy Lovell

Voting on officer elections is today. Motion was made last meeting that as there were no new nominations made that all current officers remain in place. Motion was seconded and members today voted. Motion carried.

Richard Jolly passed on to Jerry last week that he had a conversation with Rick Fairless of Stroker’s. Rick stated that due to the Scorpions having a new president and amends being made that he was open to the possibility of our chapter returning to Stroker’s for our Burn Camp Run. General member consensus is this is good news but there was also some suggestions made to this as well. It was suggested that if we return that Rick would have to donate to the event. It was also asked that he provide ample parking for all participants of the Burn Camp run by possibly reserving an area especially for the day of the event. There will be more discussion on this.

Bo Culp recommended that Primo’s at Lake Ray Hubbard be looked at as a stop again. If Bikers Just Gotta Have it is brought on board as a stop this would be an ideal stop as it would give Burn Camp rider a chance to get out of town for a bit and maybe keep riders from getting back to Willies too early waiting on the parade. The fact that there are three places to eat there would also allow riders more places to go and Primo’s offers outside seating on the lake as a plus.

There was discussion concerning the stops. General consensus is that it is unrealistic to hold the stops to $1000 and another $200 for T-shirts. With economic times being tough we can’t hold the stops to this amount. One alternative was to reduce that amount to $500. Another alternative would be to make each stop sponsor at least one child and donate to the T-shirts or provide auction items. More discussion will be needed on this.

Gary Lovell stated that apparently Parkland has still not returned our calls regarding promoting us on their pamphlets and flyers. Gary is going to personally go to them to try and get some answers.

Hoyt requested the chapter donate money to two worthy causes. Danny Burris and several others are involved in restoring an old fire bell. This restoration includes mounting it to an old fire tender as well as restoring a trailer to transport the bell and tender. Total cost of this project so far is over $7000. Hoyt requested $100 but the consensus is the club should donate at least $250 to this worthwhile project. Hoyt also requested a $100 project for Mr. Phelps and Mr. Carter of the DFR mechanic shop. These two gentlemen have built a custom made BBQ trailer and go to various BBQ cook offs promoting DFR.

There is a good possibility that in donating to these guys, the chapter could benefit by having them

attend one of our events. Motion was made and seconded that both donations be accepted.

Motion carried and Hoyt will get with Jim Pharr for the money.

Meeting was adjourned.

Meeting Minutes

                                                                                                       January 23, 2010

Meeting was called to order by Richard Jolly with the following members present:

Jerry Rushing, Mike Multop, Gary Lovell, James Bates,Jim Pharr, Ike Griffith, Robert Russ, Hoyt Hubbell,

Claude Bullard, Rick Timmons, Charlie Contrerras, Rebel (Irving), Cindy Bullard, Mindy Lovell, Judy Pharr,

Minutes from the last meeting were read to refresh everyone on what was discussed and the motion on the table to be voted on today.

Nominations were asked for and none received so all current officers are considered as the nominees and vote will be taken next meeting.

Jerry Rushing mentioned that on February 13th at 7PM the Gryphons are having a party at their clubhouse and we are invited to attend.

Jolly has tried to call several different people from Parkland regarding the club getting recognition and no one has called him back. He is still trying.

It was suggested by Jolly that when Jerry Rushing updates the call lists that members provide their date of birth and that once a month a chapter ride will be made for people having a birthday in that month.

Burn Camp Business

As of right now, Hurricane’s and Reno’s are out as stops due to not giving us any money for the run. Rebel is going to talk to Reno’s one more time and if they do not make a commitment to giving the chapter money then they will be out. Copper Spur has closed so we will need to find a venue that has the capacity for 200 to 250 people and have access to a PA system. Robert Russ suggested using the new DFR Union Hall at 10966 Audelia as it would have everything we need. The chapter would have to provide beer and food and was suggested that we look for sponsors to donate this.

At this point in time, Primo’s, the Fire Museum, Chaser’s and Eddies Sports Bar are the only stops currently committed the day of the Burn Camp run. That leaves three openings for stops so if members have any ideas, please address them to one of the officers. Mike Multop is going to go to Bikers Just Gotta Have It and talk to Terry to see if they are still interested in becoming a stop.

Rebel brought up the idea of going back to just five stops as last year with riders wanting to get their last card at Willies. This created a bottleneck trying to get everyone ready for the parade and the members trying to get the prize monies ready. Another point was that we would stand to lose and extra $2000.00 if we took away the stops and that the Fire Museum would be out as a stop. It was decided that the extra buy card could be bought at any stop. The patch holder at the stop would have to initial the ride sheet and verify that the rider bought the card at his/her stop and that would be the only card allowed as the extra card.

Jim Pharr asked the possibility of making a set amount for the prize money. Rebel stated that it would have to be a percentage or it changes the legal aspect of the game but, that he would ask the legal people about it and get back to us.

The Derby Devils are in once again in providing support to the Burn Camp run. Rebel stated that the ladies first bout is in April and they would love to have any and all patch holders attend. Proceeds of their first bout will be going to the camp and they have been very generous to us over the couple of years so we need to get out and show our support.

Cost of the Burn Camp run will be $20.00 per person. This includes passengers.

Rot Rally business June 11 – 14, 2010

Rebel is still heading up getting everyone signed and so he knows how many patches, pins and T-shirts to order.

Please contact him if you need a release.

Gary Lovell is also going to try and get the release on the web site as a downloadable form or send in email to all members. Jolly

and Lovell will assisting Rebel in getting things planned for Austin. Rebel also stated he has three more RV slots available to any

member needing one. Cost is $240.00 per slot and that includes two ROT tickets to the fairgrounds. Cheer's Bar is once again the

Friday meeting place in Austin on sixth street and the time is from 3 to 6 PM. Studio 6 is still in as an official hotel for Wind & Fire.

Rebel thinks price is still $69.00 but will let us know if that changes. Contact 512-458-5453 for reservations and make sure to

mention you are Wind & Fire for the discount.

Mindy Lovell brought up that Wind & Fire celebrates their twentieth anniversary in 2011 and that there is a big meet being planned in Missouri so stay tuned for upcoming news for this event

The motion from last meeting regarding any member in good standing being able to make a donation on behalf of Wind & Fire providing he/she had the approval of two officers was voted on and carried with the amendment that a limit of $100.00 be set.

All members are once again reminded that dues for 2010 are due. Please see Jim Pharr to pay.

                   The meeting was adjourned.

Meeting Minutes

January 9, 2010

Happy new year to everyone. It’s the start of a new year for W&FMC Chapter 8 and today was the first meeting of the new year.

The meeting was brought to order by Richard Jolly and the following members were present:

Jerry Rushing Gary Lovell Gary Freeman Jim Pharr

Mike Multop James Bates Claude Bullard Hoyt Hubbell

Mindy Lovell – Associate

Gary Lovell stated that thanks to Wal-Mart on Cockrell Hill Rd and their generosity for the money and gifts to the Family Place women’s shelter that there is a good chance we can apply for a grant through Wal-Mart. This grant would be in the amount of up to $15,000. Further discussion would be made to see if some of this money could be used toward the Burn Camp run. In case you missed it, 2009’s Family Place run enabled over twenty moms and over sixty children to have a Christmas. Approximately $4500 was raised mostly through the people at the Wal-Mart, Dallas Fire Dept fire stations and many private donations. Station 34 was once again a tremendous help I getting the gifts wrapped.

The next order of business also came from Gary Lovell. He stated that in the nine years we have been doing the I-Thonka-Chi Burn Camp run it seems as though Parkland Hospital has left W&FMC Chapter 8 completely out of all recognition. We have not been mentioned in any of their articles, flyers etc. We need this exposure if we are to sit down with potential donors in the future. Gary Lovell suggested that this may be due to them not wanting to associate themselves with a motorcycle club. W&FMC Chapter 8 has raised over $150,000 and we would like to continue to help. All members in attendance agreed that a meeting with the people at Parkland is in order. Jolly is going to make the necessary phone calls and try to have a meeting with them.

Burn Camp business was discussed and it was agreed that we will do seven stops again this year but that all stops would have to commit to a $1000 donation and $200 to go towards T-shirts for the kids. Questions were raised concerning Reno’s being removed as they have still not donated anything towards the burn camp. Switching up the stops to give riders someplace new was also raised. There will also be another shotgun raffle for DFR members and retiree’s this year. Hoyt Hubbell and Richard Jolly will be looking into the guns again.

Mindy Lovell suggested that starting next meeting that we go as a group to our stops and meet with the people there so they can see us and know what we are about. Next meeting, everyone will be going to Eddies Sports Bar in Garland.

Due to the fiasco involving the sale of tickets last year for the Scorpions, Jolly stated that this is not a good idea as it gives the impression that we are in support of a 1% club. Solutions of how to be at other clubs functions and make a donation on behalf of W&FMC Chapter 8 was discussed and a motion was made by Jolly and seconded by Gary Lovell that any member in good standing could commit the club to a donation by calling and getting the approval from two of the officers in the club. The member could then make the donation out of his own pocket and then be reimbursed at the next meeting or a check would be sent on behalf of W&FMC Chapter 8. Vote on this will be taken at the January 23rd meeting.

All members are being reminded that officer elections our up again this year in February. Any member in good standing can run for officer of the club. Nominations will be at the February 13th meeting and voted on at the February 27th meeting.

All members are being urged to get out and start attending meetings. Jerry Rushing will be making calls and updating call lists shortly so please start coming out and participating in club activities.

All members are reminded that being the new year that dues are up for renewal. Yearly dues are $40 and payable to Jim Pharr (Bebo).

Meeting Minutes

April 11, 2009

Meeting brought to order by Richard Jolly with the following members present:

Jerry Rushing Gary Lovell David Smith

Mike Multop Jim Pharr James Phillips

Claude Bullard

Money is being turned in for T-shirt sales as well as shotgun tickets and shotgun ticket sales are so good that there are not many tickets and still some shifts that haven’t been visited yet. There is a new shipment of shirts on the way and patch holders are urged to try to move these shirts by selling them anywhere and everywhere.

The Burn Camp Run is less than a month away. All patch holders are reminded there is still a lot to do before the day of the run. Jolly brought up the task of redoing our corner in Willies by taking the old pictures off the walls, repainting and putting up some new pictures. Anyone that has some pictures of runs they made last year and would like them to be placed on the wall, please print them off or bring them in on a 5X7 format so they can be framed and put on the wall after painting. Any certificates, letters of thanks or plaques are also encouraged.

Scorpions were mentioned by Jolly and their attendance the day of our run. Jolly has met with the President and Vice President of the Scorpions and although there Is some resistance in them thinking we are trying to tell what they can and cant do, Jolly thinks that they are going to respect our day and not cause any trouble.

Received a framed picture and thank you from Tammy for Chapter 8’s participation in the "Bubba Run" For those that didn’t get to attend, this was a great run and ended at The new Rocket club and café. First prize winner offered to buy Chapter 8 drink at the club but member attending asked that the money go back to Tammy to help the kids for Easter. James Bates won the 50/50 and the proceeds from that were also donated back to Tammy. All proceeds went to the Family Place shelter to make baskets for them for Easter. Chapter 8 made a good showing with Jolly, Rushing, Multop, Lovell, Hubbell, Bates and Williams. Good going guys.

Due to my being ill, I had to stop here so any other comments will be made by Gary Lovell when he posts this on the web site.

Next meeting, April 25, will be a clean up day at Willies. Getting ready for the Burn Run...Come prepared to work, a little..

Shotguns are in. Cost of the first gun was $638.44 and Academy is going to provide the second gun as well as a $100 gift certificate. Jolly asked that Mindy Lovell write a letter to Academy thanking them for their support. The shotgun was made in Turkey and is called a YILDIZ. It is a custom engraved Over/Under 12 gauge shotgun. Poster is printed as well as the tickets and will be distributed to active and retired firefighters only. There will be only 630 tickets sold for each gun and distributed to the stations and associations accordingly.

The first order of T-shirts is in and the price is the same as last year at $10 a shirt. There are plenty of sizes this year and more will be ordered.

The Fire Museum is in as the first stop on the day of the Burn Camp run. They will be open for us from 10am with 19 Engine and Truck on display as well. They have also offered to serve lunch for the kids and let them eat with the fireman.

Need some patch holders to step up and volunteer for taking care of items for the day of the run. Mike Multop has volunteered once again to take care of the 50/50. Claude and wife will coordinate the door prizes and the auction items. Gary Lovell suggested a couple of bikes be polished to be at the Fire Museum.

Registration will be as follows: All participants will register and pay for the ride at Willies where they will be issued a wrist band and then proceed directly to the Fire Museum to get their run sheet. If they come in without a wristband, no run sheet. Pins and patches will be responsibility of Rebel from the Irving chapter.

Parking and alignment for the parade is being discussed as to how to get people lined up and how to get them staged. It’s being suggested that patch holders coming back from the stops park in the street in front of Willie’s and be ready to stage bikes and prepare to block. Anyone with idea on staging, blocking and moving the parade, please let us know your ideas. It was suggested getting Blaine Dannyluck to be a "Follow Me" vehicle with his trike. I called Blaine and he is in.

Meeting was called to order by Richard Jolly and the following member were present:

Jerry Rushing, Gary Freeman ,Jim Phillips, Jim Pharr, James Bates, Reid Russell,

Hoyt Hubbell, Gary Lovell

Dallas Wind & Fire MC Chapter is officially ten years old.

Many things to get discussed and get done before the Burn Camp Run, for example, stops, donations, shotgun raffle etc. Gary Lovell approached Bass Pro Shops and they can’t donate firearms but are open to the possibility to offer the club a gift certificate. Reid Russell has volunteered to buy the shotgun at $1100.00 for the raffle. Motion carried that Reid will buy the shotgun. Jolly has decided that the winner will be announced on the Wednesday May 6th before the Burn Camp Run at Willies during a special meeting. Patch holders buying tickets was discussed and consensus is that patch holders will NOT buy tickets and the tickets sold and held only by members. Motion made and seconded for one gun with pictures to be taken prior to selling of tickets. Tickets will be sold to FIREFIGHTERS only. Jim Phillips also suggested that Gary Lovell approach Bass Pro Shop and ask about the possibility of allowing a 10% off coupon on the back of our tickets. Jolly states that the station packets still need to be done as well as the shotgun raffle. This will still allow for firefighters wanting to sponsor a child on their own if they don’t want in on the raffle.

Stops are going to be as follows; The Fire Museum is still going to be the first stop on the run. The other stops will be Reno’s, Chaser’s, Copper Spur, Hurricanes, Eddies Sports Bar and Primo’s on Mckinney Ave. Parade will still go to Stroker’s. Jolly has spoken to Rick Fairless and his only concern is the Scorpions. Jolly has spoken to the Scorpions and made it known that they are more than welcome to come to the run but they will have to leave the area (Willie’s) no later than 3pm or Rick will not come to Willies to lead the parade.

Gary Lovell says that there are five members coming in from Colorado and Kansas and they want to come to Willies and Stroker’s on Monday night and anyone wanting to show them around or give them a place to stay contact Gary. If you would like to meet and greet them, be at Willie’s at 5pm.

Members in charge of the wood boxes need to check on them and make sure there are new flyers in them so people know about this years run.

Need to try and get ALL patch holders to start attending meetings and get involved in the upcoming Burn Camp Run selling tickets, shirts, passing out flyers, etc. This is to include outriders.

The meeting was adjourned.

Meeting Minutes

February 14, 2009

Meeting called to order with the following members present:

Richard Jolly, Gary Freeman, James Pharr,  Bo Culp,Mike Multop, James Bates, Claude Bullard, Gary Lovell, Rebel (Irving), Reed (guest), Rick Gaddis, and  Charlie Contrerras

Jolly read a letter of thanks from Parkland Hospital for W&FMC Dallas and the contributions and difference we have made.

Jolly also read a letter from The Family Place thanking us for the Christmas toy run W&FMC Dallas put on for the kids and mothers that were there.

James Bates was voted in as a full member and Jerry Rushing will need to issue him a rocker.

Vote was taken that Gary Freeman be added to the checking account. Motion passed.

Burn camp this year is May 9th and it has been agreed that this year will a Seven Card Stud run with seven stops and make your best five cards. The Fire Museum is still going to be the first stop so that the burn camp kids can attend the run and not be subjected to anyone with alcohol. Copper Spur, Chasers, Hurricane, Reno’s, Primo’s, Eddies Sports Bar are the other stops and rebel stated that Hurricanes is not completely on board yet so should that fall through, Bikers Just Gotta Have It could be a tentative stop. You will have to go to the Museum to get your run card. We might also bring Bikers Just Gotta Have it as a buy card stop. This will allow entrants to make an extra stop and give them something to do before the parade to Stroker’s. It’s also a possibility that he could come to Willies and set up a booth here. It was suggested by Richard Jolly that EVERY patch holder be responsible for sponsoring one child, even if it means coming out of your own pocket. It is our run and as such, we MUST be committed to it.

Jolly brought in a khaki long sleeve shirt with Wind & Fire MC and Chapter 8 embroidered on the collar. These will be used for chapter events such as funerals, etc. Cost of these will be $30. $35 for 2XX and above. There are also black armbands available. Price to be determined. Motion made and will be voted on at next meeting. Please contact Jolly and give your size.

Rebel has two unclaimed campsites at the ROT camp ground if anyone is interested contact him. He also suggested a river float trip instead of sitting at Hannovers for the Southern Rally morning run. Also instead of Jack A Lopes bar, there is the possibility of going to Cheers at the Southern Rally.

Station collection is still open for discussion as to whether to do a Plasma TV or a shotgun.

Meeting Minutes

January 10, 2009

Meeting brought to order by Richard Jolly. The following members were present

Gary Freeman, Jim Pharr, Mike Multop, Jim Phillips,Ike Griffith, Hoyt Hubbell, James Bates(prospect) Keith (guest)

Motion was made by Jim Pharr to add Gary Freeman to the chapter checking account. Motion will be voted on at next meeting.

Wind & Fire was in the funeral procession for Norm Smith yesterday and 13 patch holders made the funeral including Rebel and Pebbles from Irving Firefighters chapter.

Certificates of gratitude were made by Bebo and his wife to thank everyone who donated or assisted with the Family Place Toy run. Richard Jolly will sign them and they will be framed and presented.

All members need to be aware that yearly dues are up for renewal.

This years Burn Camp discussion has started and we are considering having seven stops this year with the Fire Museum being the first stop. All riders will sign up at Willies and proceed directly to the Museum for their first card. This will allow us to have the kids there from the burn Camp and keep people who have been drinking away from them. Hoyt brought up the subject of raffling a plasma/HDTV this year for the Burn Camp run. If we can get one donated to us, we could do this instead of asking each station for donations this year. Limits on the amount of tickets sold and the price and how much the chapter wants to raise is also being discussed. There is a lot of logistics to work out on this and Hoyt is going to be the lead person on this and further discussion will be done at a later meeting. Jolly will check into the possibility of announcing the winner at the DFR banquet. Ike inquired as to how much would have to be donated to get a name on the banner and per Rebel from Irving, $350.00 gets a name on the banner and the bigger the donation the larger the name on the banner.

Tentative stops for this year are the Fire Museum, Reno’s, Chaser’s, Primo’s, Monkey Pub, Eddies Sports Bar and Hurricane’s. Copper Spur will be possible back up stop should someone pull out.

Jolly discussed T-Shirts for this year. It is being asked that all patch holders help out selling shirts this year. Price will stay the same as last year at $10.00 a shirt and maybe a dollar more for the bigger sizes. I suggested that Jackie be given a key to be able to sell T-shirts from the bar as well as getting more of the larger sizes men’s shirts.

Hoyt brought up the possibility of getting Dallas Cowboy Jason Whitten involved in our functions and maybe have a celebrity ride.

Getting some advertising was brought up and possibly getting some radio and TV time. I will try to work with Rebecca Lopez from Channel 8 news on some TV time.

Meeting was adjourned.

Dallas Firefighter Chapter Meeting Minutes

December 13, 2008

Meeting was called to order with the following members present:

Richard Jolly, David Smith, Jerry Rushing, Reid Russell, Gary Freeman, Claude and Cindy Bullard,

Jin and Judy Pharr, Mike Multop Gary and Mindy Lovell, James and Kathy Bates, Charlie Contreras and Rick Gaddis

The following topics were discussed:

The Family Place Toy Run – There appears to be enough money needed to get the gifts. Some families have been relocated but there are still many to get gifts for. Wal-Mart can’t give us the gift cards at this late date but they are donating $1000.00 in our chapters name towards this. As of this date we have raised $4000.00 towards gifts. Gifts will be bought today at the Wal-Mart at Cockrell Hill and I-30 and taken to Station 34 to be wrapped. On the day of the run we will depart Willies at noon and proceed to the drop off. There will be a couple of DFD apparatus at the location. Eddies Sports Bar has donated pizza. Many others are donating toiletry items, beverages etc. What to do with any left over monies was discussed and there are several options on the table to donating to the Family Place, holding it back for next year or using it to get gift cards for the ladies at the shelter. Consensus is to get the toy shopping done and see what is actually left over then decide. ALL PATCH HOLDERS THAT CAN MAKE IT ARE TO BE AT WILLIE’S NO LATER THAN NOON ON DEC 20!

Meeting Minutes

October 25, 2008

Meeting brought to order by Richard Jolly with the following members present:

Richard Jolly, Jim Pharr, Jerry Rushing,  Gary Freeman, Gary Lovell, Charlie Contreras, Mike Multop, James Bates (prospect)

Coffee drop was done today and all fire stations that helped out with blocking for the Burn Camp run were given coffee as a thank you for their help. The Chaplain was included in this list.

Jim Pharr (BEBO) has found a camp ground that would like to have us for the Southern Rally. They have full access and is just south of downtown which would allow us to meet in a certain area and be together. All other options are still available but this was brought up as a secondary location to allow all members a place to meet. Bebo is going to get back in on this.

Gary Lovell brought up Wind & Fire National news and Ibert is being removed from all correspondence from national as he wants to retire and ride. John Bergstrom from Arkansas will be taking over. In case anyone hasn’t noticed, our coins coming from national have had an inscription with some kind of wording from Paris France. National will be disposing of these and will be replaced with coins that have original phrasing on them. Gary also stated that as of last meeting there were 161 chapters worldwide and that Wind & Fire had raised over $250,000 in charity and shoes a surplus of $14,000

Meeting Minutes

August 23, 2008

Meeting was brought to order by Richard Jolly and the following members were present:

Jerry Rushing

Jim Pharr

Charlie Contreras

Mike Multop

Reid Russell

Rick Gaddis

Former Los Bomberos members Quarles, Darryl and Marti visited the meeting. They explained that due to Marti being terminated from the Los Bomberos chapter for no apparent reason that Darryl and Quarles also resigned. Everyone at the meeting stated they were welcome to join our chapter but they have decided to be on out rider status for the time being.

James, a retired firefighter is joining the chapter and Charlie Contreras will be his sponsor for the six month probation period. He has mailed his packet in to National and is awaiting the return of his paperwork.

Today’s meeting was supposed to consist of giving coffee to the stations that helped us block during the Burn Camp parade but was table till next meeting.

Jolly brought up that Robert Barrentz (sp) from Parkland is doing an article on our chapter for their in house magazine or PMH employee’s. He wants everyone there to know what we are doing for them and the Burn Foundation.

Jolly stated that on September 13, 2008 there will be a walk for firefighters and police in honor of 9-11. Participants will be in full dress uniforms and donations will go to Parkland, various police and firefighter groups to commemorate 9-11.

Jerry Rushing announced that Smokey, president of the Scorpions passed away of a heart attack. Funeral arrangements are pending. There is also a benefit party for "Lil Buck" tonight at the Scorpions clubhouse at old Fire Station 39 at Jupiter and Centerville Rd tonight at 7 pm. Unknown at this time if the passing of Smokey will affect this or not.

Also, The Female Firefighter calendar girls will be at Stroker’s tonight from 4pm to 11pm signing calendars and posing for pictures.

As a side note, after the meeting, members rode to The Firehouse Grill in Ennis. The food there is very good and they have        free beer or you may bring in your own. They also have pictures on the wall with some history of Ennis Fire Department. Next time you are  in Ennis and hungry, stop in. The owners also offer fire fighters a 10% discount if you let them know you’re a firefighter

Meeting Minutes

August 8, 2008

Meeting was called to order by Richard Jolly with the following members present:

Jerry Rushing

Gary Lovell

Gary Freeman

Mike Multop

Rick Timmons

Rick Gaddis

Charlie Contreras

Reid Russell

The following was discussed:

Reid Russell won best bike at both Hollister and Sturgis by apparently an overwhelming vote. Congratulations Reid!

Hoyt Hubbell made all four rallies this year. Congratulations to Hoyt too! This means he went to Daytona, Austin, Hollister and Sturgis all in one year and will earn him a 4 for 4 Rugby  from Wind & Fire International.

Gary Lovell and Charlie Contreras reported there were lots of rockers at Sturgis this year from Wind & Fire and that twelve were from Dallas.

Jolly mentioned that he was approached by the Copper Spur and asked why they were not a stop this year for the Burn Camp run. Jolly explained to them that as they had sold the business and were in a transition that they were dropped this year but we would look at it again for next year. It was stressed that all members needed to think about the stops now for next year. Several options were discussed. I mentioned the fact that two weeks ago we had talked about Stroker’s and how Rick Fairless is an Honorary member, gives us PR, donates his time as well as the band’s time during the Burn Camp Run but that it would be nice if he was to donate some cash to the camp. Jolly stated he would ask Rick about it but that we shouldn’t worry about it because of him being an honorary member and the publicity he brings the chapter.

The Firefighter Museum near Fair Park was brought up as a stop and a place to bring the kids in from the camp. Gary Lovell brought up a concern that if we do this then the museum would have to be the first stop on the list because of alcohol being on all stops. This would preserve the sanctity of the museum and not expose the kids to someone that has had too much to drink. It was suggested that if we do this, then riders would register at Willies and proceed directly to the museum to get their first card. This would insure no one would come into the museum inebriated and jeopardize the chapter, museum or the kids. Riders could go to the bars on Exposition after getting their card at the museum if they so desire.

Jolly suggested the possibility of making our run like a Texas Hold Em style game as the poker run. This would allow for another stop and still make Willies a final stop on the run for the last card and get everyone back to Willies for the parade. This is a great idea and all members need to think about this. If we were to do this we could bring the Copper Spur back on and keep all of our current stops.

Jolly brought up the feelings about T-shirts made for the Burn Camp Run. Everyone agrees it was a great thing. The shirts paid for themselves this year plus the chapter gave every kid at camp a free T-shirt. Consensus is, we need to keep this going. Jolly is going to work on a new style for next year and get back with us when it is done to get member input.

The meeting was adjourned

Meeting Minutes

July 12, 2008

Due to the fact of some members being in California and the funeral for "Lil Buck" of the Scorpions, there was no meeting held today but there are a couple of items that members need to be aware of:

Gary Lovell broke down on the way to California. According to Jerry Rushing, Gary’s motor came apart in West Texas and he is going to have to replace it. Gary had to have the bike brought back on a trailer and not sure what he will do next.

Richard Jolly, Jerry Rushing, Rick Timmons, Jim Pharr, Scott Parsley and Mike Multop all rode to the funeral for "Lil Buck" at Scruggs funeral home on Military. While riding east on Military just before Jim Miller Rd, a pickup truck stopped right in front of us and Richard had to lay his bike down to keep from hitting the truck. Richard is okay but his bike took quite a beating with bent handle bars and broken lights, mirrors, turn signals and scrapes and scratches. He was able to get things bent back enough that he could ride to the funeral home and back home again but, we need to be especially careful out there and always expect the unexpected. This guy just stopped cold in front of him and Richard had nowhere to go.

There were a lot of clubs seen at the funeral: Scorpions, Black Sheep, Boozefighters, Bandido’s, Gypsy’s as well as Wind & Fire. There were also a few outrider clubs and independents there. Big turnout to say goodbye to a fellow biker and may he rest in peace.

President Richard Jolly brought the meeting to order and the following members were present:

Richard stated that due to the demand for more of our bandanas from the Burn Camp Run, more are being made to sell and also they will be taken to the Western Rally in Hollister, CA next month.

The Western Rally in Hollister, Ca is scheduled for July 12th and chapter 8 members are departing on July 8th.

Richard mentioned that there is rumors going around that the Scorpions are planning revenge on Stroker’s as Rick Fairless has banned them from his business. Richard again stressed the need for Wind & Fire to distance themselves from these types of clubs and to remember that our chapter is a neutral and charitable club and not to get into a confrontation with any of the other clubs. It was reiterated that we are firemen.

Meeting Minutes

June 14, 2008

Today’s meeting is coming to you live from Austin, Texas, and home of Wind & Fire MC Southern Rally meeting site at Hannover’s in Pflugerville, Texas. To start off, we left Dallas at various times and in various groups. That I know of, everyone made it safely to the Meet and Greet in Austin at Jack-a-Lopes Bar. Parking was tough as usual but several members helped everyone get parked. Thanks guys! Apparently EVERYONE had a good time at Jack-a-Lopes and there were many "Rockers" seen from around Texas including Dallas, Irving, Houston, Mid Cities and Cen-Tex to name a few. Also in attendance were members from Illinois, New Mexico, Michigan and California. It was great seeing members from other states. Thanks for making the trip y’all! Good food, camaraderie and cold beer were the order of the day and hats off to Jack-a-Lopes for being a gracious host again this year although there is talk of maybe moving to a different place next year. Rebel mentioned a bar that was three doors down that was less crowded called of all places "CHEERS!" According to Rebel, as it was less crowded, it was mentioned they might want Wind & Fire MC business next year. Rebel is going to get someone to ask them about it and we will have too wait and see.

Saturday morning we met at The Studio 6 motel in Austin and rode to Hannover’s Smokehouse in Pflugerville for the Wind & Fire Motorcycle club’s Southern Rally meeting. Rebel passed out the T-shirts, patches and pins. The T-shirts are awesome Rebel…Great Job on the design!! I don’t know who it was that was able to get everyone out front of Hannover’s for a group photo but KUDO’S to whoever it was in getting them all outside!! After the pictures were all taken we all piled back inside where the 50/50 was drawn. The winner was Gary Lovell from Dallas Chapter 8. Way to go Gary!! Several Plaques were given out this year and if I missed anyone, I apologize. Studio 6 Hotel was given a plaque for being such a good host and accommodating Wind & Fire MC again this year as well as the young lady from Hannovers who has been such a great host for Wind & Fire MC over the last five years. THANK YOU!! Awards were also handed out to the oldest rider Claude Bullard, Dallas Chapter, the rider who rode the farthest to the rally William Trinkl, Big Bear Chapter, as well as the hard luck story of the year Mike Sekiya, Gallup Chapter. CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to all award winners. Rebel also asked member’s present if next year they would like to do a Friday ride. Consensus was yes. Pizza was provided as a light lunch this year and everyone agreed that it was great touch and voted to do it again next year.

The meeting was adjourned so that everyone could start heading back to the ROT Rally grounds as well as sixth street. Hope everyone had a good time. Thanks once again to everyone that attended and please be safe going home. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!!

Rebel – Irving club president

Totals from the Burn Camp Run are right at $30,000 with more money trickling in. The T-shirts were completely paid for and there is still some left over in limited sizes. T-shirts for the kids and counselors are all ready to go to the camp, which leaves the 7th of June.

Weds the 11th the club goes to the camp to present the check to the camp. Kickstands up at 8AM.

All the stops have come through with money as promised except for Reno’s. They have not given us a check yet.

Anyone with pictures of the Burn Camp Run please mail them to Donna Crump at bigredtruck57@sbcglobal.net or Gina Patterson at javelin27@aol.com.

Jolly had a critique of how some things went during the Burn Camp Run that could be improved on in that some of the auction items didn’t make it to Stroker’s and required someone to go back for them. Also road guard blocking was discussed in that some of the road guards were coming up on the right instead of the left like was discussed during the planning and that some members went ahead of the parade before being signaled to the intersection.

There will nee to be some clean up and repainting done at Willies to get the Velcro tape off the walls as well as a few other things

All materials are on hand for the run. Members are needed next Friday to distribute materials to the stops. Meet at Willies at 10 AM.

Jolly wants all members to wear either a blue or white run T-shirts the day of the run to show support for our cause.

DR Horton is out. They have dropped out of our agreement with money and support. As far as the fifth stop, Willies will be the stop. First dart will be thrown at Willies and when bikes return we will attempt to sell the sixth dart.

Donations are down this year due to the economy. Station packets are also down with the exception of three and four districts. Hoyt commended Gary Lovell and Ike Griffith for their hard work in getting station donations. Gary Lovell also had six corporate sponsors this year.

Day of the run, officers will be at Willies except for Mike Multop who is running the 50/50 and will be working all the stops. Hoyt is taking Chasers With Charlie Contreras. Danny Hagan will work Willies, Robert Russ will work Renos and the Irving chapter will work Hurricane Grill. Patch holders are needed to at each of the stops to explain rules, answer questions and mediate any disputes.

All patch holders will be required to have a copy and be familiar with the rules of the run and to be able to answer any questions.

Road Captain is to get everyone lined up for the parade to Strokers and all road guards are to be in place thirty minutes before the parade.

Stop routes were discussed and Rebel and Gary are working maps for suggested ways to go to each stop. Directions will be posted at each stop for riders to use.

Mike Multop will print up signs to use at the registration tables and stops if needed.

Gary, Ike and jolly will get with the stations to get the engines out for the parade to help block intersections.

Rebel wants to bring in CD’s of last years and 2006 to camp and wants to run them on the big screen. Mike Multop will bring his laptop and hook it up to the TV and try to work it up.

It was stressed to everyone that patch holders are needed to work the run, not necessarily participate in the run. If there is time, all patch holders can participate but the number one priority is to make the run a success.

OLD BUSINESS

Final stop for the Burn Camp run is now up in the air. Primo’s at Lake Ray Hubbard is backing out and DR Horton is still being considered but due to them apparently backing out of the deal we had, they are possibly not going to be a stop.

Need to have a meeting next Saturday, as it is the weekend before the Burn Camp run. Also need to have members come to Willies at 10 AM on Fri May 9th to get all the materials out to the stops and get it set up.

Gary Lovell is working on routes for the stops and trying to come up with a way to keep rider’s on/off the freeways. He has come up with routes for both and although rider’s can not be held to our assigned routes its been decided that keeping rider’s off the freeway will make a safer and more enjoyable ride for everyone.

All station packets are to be collected so Hoyt can start getting a count. Deliver all packets to 34’s station.

Meeting was adjourned.

Old Business

DR Horton event was discussed and the fact that there was no turnout. This may have been due to weather. Now DR Horton is backing off of putting us on their web site and getting pre-registrations going and the lawyers were bringing up a lot of negatives regarding the Toy Run and other things.

Getting the kids involved is becoming a problem due to the fact that the stops for the Burn Camp serve alcohol. There is a possibility that Primo’s Restaurant by bass Pro shops would like to be a stop and that would be a place where the kids come to and be involved.

Hoyt is working with Liberty Mutual on them becoming a sponsor and contributor to the Burn Camp run.

Jolly made the point of the Friday before to make sure everything is in place such as dart boards, darts and all the things needed for the run. This will keep us from having to do everything on Saturday morning.

It was reiterated that member should try to sponsor one child and be responsible for one door prize.

Station packets are being readied and 50/50 tickets are bought.

Possibility of having some Bike Nights with radio stations help us advertise for the Burn Camp was discussed. More on that later.

New Business

The ride to Mckinney two weeks ago was discussed. Richard Jolly apologized to the club for riding too fast for conditions on wet roads. Charlie Contrerras was very upset over the fact that he hit a muffler baffle while on the freeway and that this could have caused a very serious accident on the freeway. Jerry Rushing mentioned that Gary Lovell is the Road Captain and as such should lead the ride and make sure that all riders are safe. Gary Lovell mentioned that riders should be ready to go with gas and money before the meet up to ride. All rides from now on will be led by the Road Captain.

The meeting was adjourned by Richard Jolly

Richard Jolly,  Bebo, Gary Freeman, Gary and Mindy Lovell, Reid Russell, Rock Russell, Mike Multop, Claude Bullard, Rick Timmons, Charlie Contreras, Hoyt Hubbell, Rick Gaddis and Shelly

The following topics were discussed:

Old Business

One hundred and ninety two T-Shirts are in and cost was $1200.00 half was given up front. Price per shirt is $10 a shirt. More shirts will be on order as they are needed. Eighty-four shirts have already been sold as well as a few donated shirts to various people. Might have Bike weeks at the stops to sell shirts and Richard wants to make sure we make enough on them to give each child at the camp a T-Shirt. It was also decided to make some T-Back shirts for the ladies.

Confederation of clubs is going to list all of the Wind & Fire clubs in the Metroplex as Wind & Fire and not by chapter. We are staying away from the Texas Defenders program and it is decided that if the COC is leaning toward the Texas Defenders that Dallas W&F will pull our COC patches. We will not support the Bandidos if this Texas Defenders starts to get out of hand.

Union News placed a full-page ad for the Burn Camp Run with a copy of our flyer on it.

DR Horton was brought up again and Rock brought the club up to date on this. DR Horton will provide some kind of food at the stop for bikers coming in on the day of the run. They are also going to donate $350.00 to the Burn Camp run for each house sold during this campaign. They have started the American Heroes Program for all retired or active firefighters and Police, including military. Teachers are also involved in this program. They are having their first Open House on March 30, 2008 (next Sunday)

This is going to be in Mckinney and will run from 11am to 2 pm at Fairways West at Westridge. Map and flyers have been passed out and can obtained through Rock. We need as much participation as we can get from the members on this. We will meet at Willies at 9am (rain or shine) to go to Mckinney. Gary Lovell will check weather and make final determination as to go on bikes or cars. Rock needs contacts to go to other Fire Depts. to fill them in on the program. If anyone has names and numbers, please contact him.

Station packets are due to go out on April 1 and picked up by May 1. See last meeting minutes for packet responsibility. Hoyt Hubbell is going to take charge of this again this year.

The meeting was adjourned.

Meeting Minutes

February 23, 2008

The meeting was called to order by President Richard Jolly at 10:25 am with the following members present: Jolly, Rushing, Ike, Bebo, Freeman, Charlie Contreras, Multop, Claude, Gary Lovell, Rock, Rick Timmons, Irving Chapter president Rebel and Parkland Foundations Gina. The following topics were discussed:

1. Ike Griffith has fulfilled his pledge requirement and was nominated for full membership by Richard Jolly and seconded by Jerry Rushing and voted in by the members present.

2. Death of the motorcycle officer was discussed and the possibility of Chapter 8 being included into the funeral procession. I mentioned that I have left a message with Rick Gaddis to try and find out for us.

3. Rebel brought up that he had some generic receipts to hand out for people making donations that need a receipt.

4. Hurricane Grill on Lower Greenville has donated $1000.00 to the burn camp and will probably become a stop.

5. New stops were discussed and thought about. With the golf tournament, the fish fry not available this year, other options are being considered for fund raising

6. DR Horton Homes wants to come on board as a major sponsor which is a nationwide organization that has charities as one of the main functions however they are in it to make money also. They want the chapter to pass out flyers regarding their homes and they will donate proceeds to the chapter and the burn camp. Jolly states that it will come in three phases with number one being a food drive. The second phase would be to have a community center as a stop. Jolly has some reservations by allowing the kids to get involved at the community centers so that people can see exactly what we are doing for them and to also allow for online donations, pre-registrations for the burn camp run through DR Horton. Jerry Rushing asked about distancing the chapter from our main charity, the burn camp run. Jolly assured everyone that DR Horton is in no way going to barge in on our charity but that they will promote our chapter through their advertising. Third phase would be a toy run for kids. Rock enlightened everyone with a little more information on how everything would work such as building the web site and how the donations would be coordinated and how our colors would be integrated into the sponsor. Bebo brought up the fact of not including bars on T-shirts or with DR Horton as to not promote alcohol for a children’s fund raiser. Jolly suggested that as far as T-shirts go, colors would be on the front and sponsors on the back to more or less be covered by our vests. Rebel brought up a good point about checking with Parkland to see if they would be okay with bringing this sponsor on board. Jolly stated that there is a possibility of being able to use DR Homes to sponsor other chapters. Rebel also brought up reservations as all the money we raised last year was by us and that we paid for almost the entire camp. What is going to happen to any extra monies collected and the fact that DR Homes might be getting a cut of burn camp monies. Gina stated that not all of the monies raised go to just the burn camp. It also pay for other camps as well as counselors and other staff to also attend so, the money would not be returned nor go to waste. The legalities and how it would affect our non-profit charity status was also Discussed. Jerry Rushing asked that DR Horton attend a meeting and give a presentation as to how this will work and to allow the members to ask questions. Jolly asked Gary Lovell to check with National about the legalities and if there would be a problem there. Bebo suggests we think about this and vote on it by next meeting because time is short on getting on board with this thing. Jolly requested that we bypass the bylaws this one time regarding the vote and to go ahead and vote on it today so that the chapter can move forward on this now so that we can get ready for the runs now. We need to have flyers, T-shirts and banners made quickly for these runs. I suggested that instead of a date printed on the banner that we go generic and use the wording “The Saturday before Mother’s Day.” Jolly asked for all members input on bringing DR Horton on board. General consensus was lets do it.

The meeting was adjourned.

The meeting was brought to order by Gary Lovell with the following members present: Timmons, Scott, Bevo, Rob Russ, Denny and Claude. Associate member Rock and visiting Irving Chapter President Rebel also in attendance.

The following topics were discussed:

1. The web site and the fact that some are unable to get into the members area using Internet Explorer. Gary is going to look into the problem there and get back with us. It was also broought up that minutes will now be included on the web site for members that cant make a meeting and want to keep up to date. Richard Jolly then showed up and took over the meeting.

2. After the meeting, members are being asked to go to the EasyRiders motorcycle show to pass out flyers for the Burn Camp Run.

3. Death of the fireman in Phoenix was discussed.

4. Discussion pertaining to possibly volunteering the chapter to help clean, paint and repair the union hall entrance. Jolly asked for feedback on the viability of the members participating.

5. The golf benefit for the Burn camp is still in the planning stages and there was some discussion on where the donations is going to. The sponsor of the tournament for the Burn Camp tournament has pulled out so a new sponsor will have to be found.

6. Jolly brought up the possibility of all members contributing to the Burn camp run. He would like to see each member come up with at least $350.00 which will sponsor one child. He would like to see every member sponsor one child. Motion was made by Richard Jolly and seconded by Bevo. Motion will be voted on next meeting.

7. Elections were discussed and Mike Multop was voted in as the Secretary of chapter.

8. Burn camp business was then opened for discussion and stops were the first order of business. I brought up Bikers Just Gotta Have It being a stop and the fact that the owner is receptive to setting up a tent and doing whatever he can to become a stop. Rebel mentioned that for stops to be required to donate $1000.00 was little too much and it was discussed that the stops be able to sposor two kids.

9. Bevo stated that currently our bank accout is at $1453.12. Dues required by members are now due and must be paid by the end of the month. Gary Lovell states that at this time we have 22 active members.
10. Gary Lovell asked for participants in a national rally on My 8th through the 11th in Houston.

11. Scott is looking into the Confederation of Clubs patches and will get them and be reimbursed by the chapter. The rally is for NCOM (National Coalition of Motorcycles.)

12. Rebel brought up a rumor heard regarding the Texas Defenders and that they want twp representatives from each chapter to be available for anything that comes up in Austin regarding motorcycles. The rumor is the Banditos are going to enforce that anyone nor participating will have their patches pulled in Dallas and Tarrant counties. It was wholeheartedly agreed that this is something our chapter NOT get involved in this type of organization due to Wind & Fire being a charitable chapter.

With this, the meeting the meeting was adjourned by Richard Jolly so members could head to the Easyriders show.

Meeting brought to order by club president Richard Jolly. The following members were in attendance: Jerry Rushing, Bebo, Ike, Bo Culp, Mike Multop, Gary Lovell, Richard Reid, Paul, Claude, Lucio and Charlie with associates Rock Reid and Rick Gaddis as well as visiting Irving Chapter members Rebel and Kevin.

The following topics were discussed:
1.      Election of officers is this year and Mike Multop has been nominated for Secretary.
2.      Jerry Rushing gave an update on Associate members and the wearing of patches and dues. Associates other than spouses will be required to go through a six month probation period before patches are issued. Patches will be paid for by the sponsoring member. Spouses will be brought in and allowed to wear patches and pay no dues. Associates brought in by a full member other than a spouse will pay $40.00 dues per year. Motion was carried by Richard Jolly and seconded by Richard Reid and voted into effect by the members present.
3.      The golf tournament for the Burn Camp Run was discussed. Tabled till the event date gets a little closer
4.      Stops for the Burn Camp were discussed and Rebel suggested that we try to get a Lower Greenville stop. Jolly asked if I had been to Bikers Just Gotta Have It yet and I said I had not yet. Reno’s and Chasers appear to be still on the list of stops. It was also discussed that some stops might be too close to Strokers and that some people would not ride back to Willies. I suggested that it be understood that participants not returning to Willies would be ineligible for prizes. More discussion may be needed on that. Mardi Gras night club has expressed the desire for another party after the run with proceeds going to the Burn Camp. Rebel showed the chapter this year’s flyer for the Burn Camp Run and all members looked at them. He also stated that the Derby Devils are on board again this year.  I suggested Wings in Seagoville as a stop. I will make an effort to stop and talk to him.
5.      Bebo stated that with dues collected today, we have approx. $1400.00 in the account.
6.      Hoyt brought up a T-shirt deal about supporting the troops overseas. Hoyt wanted to ask that we donate some of the chapter T-shirts to the cause. Jolly made a motion that eight to ten shirts be donated. Seconded and voted through by members present.
7.      Jolly stated that the fee for the Burn Camp Run will stand at $20.00 and cut off at start of run in order for Bebo to get money counted. Any extra money collected at the end of the run for participants that buy extra darts will be taken care of at that time.
8.      Rebel suggested that as a liability issue that the poker run be changed from $10 for the poker run and $10 for the parade. It will now be $20 for the poker run and the parade is free. If someone would like to be in the parade but not the poker run, a donation will be asked for.
9.      Bo Culp made a motion that all patch holders be required to provide one door prize as a minimum for the Burn Camp Run. Seconded by Jolly and carried by vote by members present.
10.  The talk from last meeting regarding Charlie being stopped by a Garland Police officer regarding wearing Wind & Fire colors in Garland. Jolly spoke to a Lt. with GPD and was told that the wearing of colors is permissible but, the fact remains that officers are still stopping riders wearing colors. It has been suggested that all members stopped by GPD advise the officer that the wearing of color is freedom of speech and that it cannot be enforced.
11.  Rebel advised members of the ROT rally and that there are rooms reserved at Studio Six motel and to mention Wind & Fire when reserving a room. Weekend rates of $66 were stated.
12.  Jolly is considering making money boxes to put in businesses to collect money for Burn Camp.
13.  Meeting was adjourned at 11:35 by Jolly and seconded and voted by members present.
